The Navy’s Riverine Command Boat (RCB) is proving to be a versatile addition to the fleet and is expanding its portfolio of roles in deployments to the Persian Gulf.
LT Bryce Brown, who recently returned from a seven-month deployment to the Persian Gulf with Coastal Riverine Squadron Four, and whose platoon operated three RCBs, said, “The RCB is primarily a riverine craft, but we’ve proven the capability to take it out into the blue water and fill a gap.
We did a lot of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions and force protection missions. A big piece of what we focused on is integrating ourselves in with the larger Navy fleet assets.”
