Commander: Iranian Navy to Unveil New Achievements Late November

Rear Admiral Habibollah SayyariNovember 28 marks the ‘Navy Day’ in Iran during which the Navy discloses its latest achievements in building weaponry and equipment every year.

Sayyari also underlined indigenization of the construction of destroyers in Iran, and told FNA in the Northern port city of Bandar Anzali that “a number of plants in Southern and Northern Iran are building destroyers and providing the needs of the Navy”.

Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.
