Mirage 2000: The backbone of IAF to get a USD 2.4 bln makeover

Mirage 2000Mirage 2000s has been the backbone of Indian Air Force since decades. The French multirole, single-engine fourth-generation jet fighter manufactured by French-based Company Dassault Aviation was inducted in Indian Air Force in 1980s.

So far, 600 units have been built and are serving the air force of nine nations, including India. Indian Air Force operates over 50 Mirage 2000 Multirole Fighter Aircraft.

Several variants have been developed since the aircraft came into service in 1972. IAF is presently operating M2000H, which will be upgraded to Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 standards between 2011 and 2020.
