Radar, combat management system complete testing

HMAS PerthAn Australian-designed phased array radar and combat management system for ships has successfully completed operational acceptance trials.

The testing of the radar and combat system -- part of a program to modernize anti-ship missile defense (ASMD) on Anzac-class frigates -- was conducted by the Royal Australian Navy and the Defense Materiel Organization.

The final operational acceptance tests included successful Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile engagements of multiple sea-skimming targets and engagement by an ESSM of an advanced supersonic target.
