The Defense Industry Implementation Committee (SSİK), which convened under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara on Thursday, delayed its final decision on the tender for a long-range air defense system at the end of a five-hour meeting.
Turkey has long been preparing to purchase a long-range air defense system worth $4 billion to beef up its defense capabilities in order to avert any threat to its national security.
However, Turkey again failed to reach a final decision in the latest of a string of meetings that were held over the past few years.
