Navy seeks to replace Air Surveillance Radar on ships

AN/SPN-43C |The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is seeking a replacement for the AN/SPN-43C Air Surveillance Radar (ASR) in order to resolve ongoing obsolescence issues and radar signal processing deficiencies, according to contract documents released on Friday through the Federal Business Opportunities website.

The AN/SPN-43C ASR is a radar system used for Carrier Air Traffic Control with 50-mile search capability up to an altitude of 30,000 feet.

It ensures safe and expeditious shipboard approach, departure, and marshal control to support fleet operations for aircraft carrier and amphibious assault ships.
