RN frigates swap pirate-busting duties

HMS NorthumberlandThe captains of two South West-based Royal Navy frigates have met in mid-ocean to swap pirate-busting duties.

Plymouth-based HMS Northumberland has taken over maritime policing patrol from HMS Sutherland.

The two Type 23 frigates met up briefly in the Red Sea allowing a meeting of minds – the command team from HMS Sutherland visited HMS Northumberland via Merlin helicopter to pass on their experiences.
