IRGC Navy to launch submarines in Persian Gulf

Ghadir class submarine |The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy is launching its submarines in the Persian Gulf to defend Iran’s southern territorial waters, the IRGC Navy’s second-in-command says.

“In the near future, submarines will be added to defense capabilities of the IRGC Navy,” Rear-Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said on Tuesday.

The admiral added that Iran’s military capabilities have progressed remarkably since the Iraqi imposed war (1980-1988) during which the United States directly entered into conflict with the Islamic Republic.
