Frigate Curts ends final deployment on Tuesday

USS Curts (FFG-38) |The frigate Curts, which joined the fleet during the height of the Cold War and went on to join the American assault on Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, will steam back into San Diego Bay on Tuesday, ending almost 30 years of service with the Navy.

The Curts has been on deployment in the Pacific, where its crew confiscated almost 1,000 kilograms of illegal narcotics worth an estimated $25 million, the Navy says.

The 453-foot vessel will dock at Naval Station San Diego on Tuesday morning, where it will await decommissioning in late January.
