SELEX Elsag and DRS Technologies awarded a contract to update of Canadian frigates' internal communications system

HMCS Ottawa (Halifax class) |Important contract for SELEX Elsag and DRS Technologies Canada. The Canadian Public Works and Government Services Department awarded these Finmeccanica companies the update of the Internal Communications System (ICS) for the Ottawa Government Navy’s Halifax-Class frigates.

The 11 million-dollar contract stipulates that this solution, based on TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) technology, is delivered from 2013 and finished within the first half of 2015.

The ICS system comprises wireless technologies to facilitate the exchange of information between personnel in charge of failure control, flight deck crews and 50-caliber teams during operations in critical situations.
