USS Truman's Weapons System to Undergo Operational Tests

USS Harry S. Truman |Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman left Naval Station Norfolk on Sept. 24 to conduct combat systems ship qualification trials (CSSQT) this week.

The operational tests will assess the carrier’s close-in weapons system (CIWS), rolling airframe missile (RAM), and NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System (NSSMS).

According to Fire Controlman 3rd Class Ronda Johnson, one of four CIWS technicians aboard Truman, the close-in weapons system will be tested during two drills.
