BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair, which has been on a tear lately upgrading its yard near the Coronado Bridge and booking new contracts, will receive up to $39.5 million to overhaul the destroyer Milius, which returned from deployment on Sept. 10.
The Defense Department says that Milius will need to spend considerable time in dry dock for most of the upgrades and repairs to be completed by July 13.
There are currently five ships at BAE undergoing repairs: Destroyers Howard and John Paul Jones, cruiser Chancellorsville, amphib New Orleans, mine-countermine ship Chief.
