Typhoon support deal 'secures 600 jobs'

[Eurofighter Typhoon]BAE Systems has received a £446m contract to support Typhoon jets which will secure around 600 jobs at its Warton and Samlesbury sites, it has been announced.

The five-year contract, awarded by the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) will provide engineering services for Typhoon jets and falls within NETMA targets to save 30 per cent on Typhoon support spending.

The deal will also provide the test and evaluation infrastructure for future Typhoon capability enhancements, including improvements in its air-to-ground attack performance.
