Air Force details 3DELRR contracts

3DELRRThe U.S. Air Force has revised its acquisition strategy for a new ground-based, long-range radar system.

"A combination of several factors, including a somewhat atypical acquisition strategy and the U.S. budget crisis, led to the change," said Lt. Col. Brian McDonald, 3DELRR program manager, said at a recent industry day at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.

"We modified the strategy to further leverage competition to look at needed capability, different approaches to delivering that capability and doing so in the most affordable manner."
