Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Wednesday that Indonesia will have three more submarines in operation in 2015, with a total of five securing the country’s vast waters.
“Currently, we have two submarines and the three additional submarines are being ordered from South Korea. We expect to have them operational in 2015,” he said in Banten, as reported by Antara news agency.
Purnomo was speaking after receiving the honorary Hiu Kencana (Golden Shark) brevet on board the KRI Nanggala 402 on the Sunda Straits off Cilegon, Banten.
