Israel uses German technology for naval operations

Dolphin classIsrael has added German submarines to its arsenal in preparation for attacks or defence that may be necessary due to mounting tension in the region.

Israel now has four Dolphin submarine bought from Germany, and two more are on order. Industry magazine Jane’s Defence Weekly reports the submarines are nuclear-armed.

Speaking anonymously, an Israeli officer said he could not discuss exactly how the submarines would be used: “We are not allowed to talk about our operations as this is the secret of our success.
