China to fire missiles days ahead of election

DF-21C / DF-25 Conventional Medium-Range Ballistic MissileChina was highly likely to fire missiles at the Pacific Ocean just days before Taiwan’s January 14 presidential election, a recent report from a United States weekly said.

The missile was the Dongfeng-21D, a special anti-ship ballistic type known as an ‘aircraft carrier killer,’ a report in the Defense News said.

China would fire the missile on January 11 to show Taiwan that it shouldn’t rely on the US for protection.

The aim of the test was to persuade Taiwanese voters not to cast their ballot for a Taiwan Independence supporter, reports said.
