US diplomat asks Czech ministry to buy Raytheon missiles

AspideU.S. charge d'affaires John Ordway has asked the Czech Republic to buy RIM-7 Sparrow anti-aircraft missiles made by U.S. Raytheon company in a letter sent to the Czech Defence Ministry in June, the Euro news server writes Tuesday.

The server writes that the RIM-7s are used by the militaries of the United States and some other NATO member countries.

The Defence Ministry wants to update the Czech air defence as soon as possible and complete it by 2015. The update is to cost about one billion crowns, the server writes.
