Marines fighting to keep F-35B
An update in InsideDefense.com on the news that senior DoD leadership is at least considering, or has again considered, dumping the Marines F-35B STOVL jet.
The Marines chief aviator, Lt. Gen. George Trautman, said the service's leadership has “been trying to make the case” to Pentagon leaders to proceed with development and acquisition of the F-35B.
As the same publication reported last week, at least some Pentagon officials have suggested tossing the so-far troubled F-35B aside to free up cash for speeding development and acquisition of the Air force and Navy versions of the attack jet.
