Business as usual, says threatened Plymouth ship's Commanding Officer

HMS OceanHMS Ocean will deploy again next year, says her commanding officer – despite facing the axe under Government spending cuts.

Captain Keith Blount admitted changes had been brought about by the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) but said it was "business as usual" for the Devonport-based helicopter carrier.

Sailors disembarking in Devonport on Saturday following a five-month deployment, were also adamant they would deploy on the warship again, to the Mediterranean, next year, a view endorsed by Captain Blount.
