The great potential for Russian-Vietnamese military technical cooperation would make Vietnam the Number One buyer of Russian weapons in Southeast Asia during the next few years, said a Russian military official Saturday."The volume of the weapon contracts between the two countries in recent years suggests that Vietnam could become Russia's No.1 partner of military technical cooperation," the unnamed military source was cited by the Interfax news agency as saying.
The official recalled that Russia and Vietnam signed an inter-governmental memorandum on military cooperation in October 2008, when their weaponry trade exceeded one billion U.S. dollars that year.
