Witnessed by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Bin Al Hussein, Major General Malek Habashneh, the Royal Jordanian Air Force commander, signed a letter of intent yesterday for Jordan to acquire the Boeing AH-6i light attack/reconnaissance helicopter. Signing on behalf of Boeing was Al Winn, VP Apache programs vice-president.
Jordan already has extensive experience of the earlier version of the Little Bird, especially in the Special Forces support role, and this no doubt helped in the selection of the Boeing product, which is a thoroughly updated variant with state-of-the-art avionics, new weapon options and other improvements such as a four-bladed ‘quiet’ tail rotor.
Moving forward with this programme has been conducted under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
