Australia has officially accepted its first two Wedgetail early warning aircraft, with four more set to arrive during the next year.A year ago, defence was considering whether the entire $3.9 billion project might need to be scrapped, leaving the nation to wear a loss which would have dwarfed the $1 billion Seasprite helicopter debacle.
The aircraft handed over in a ceremony at RAAF Williamtown are fit for training and further development but are not actually ready to go to war.
