The U.S. Navy announced it has called off its search for an aviator missing since his plane crashed over Afghanistan following a mission, according to reports.Ukrainian-born pilot Lt. Steven Zilberman, 31, was declared dead and the rescue mission to find him was called of Saturday, reports stated.
He was a Columbus, Ohio, resident.
According to military personnel, Zilberman’s E-2C Hawkeye surveillance plane was on its way back to the Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier when it went down less than 10 miles from the ship due to mechanical problems.
