City bids farewell to HMS Nottingham

HMS Exeter (Type 42)The final goodbye from the sailors of HMS Nottingham started in church, stopped off at the seat of local government and wound up in the pub.

As the Royal Navy prepares to decommission HMS Nottingham, the men and women who crew her paid a final official visit to Nottingham that was partly sombre reflection, partly a display of pomp and part rousing send-off.

The day began with a brief service at St Mary's Church, continued with a march to Old Market Square and a reception at the Council House and finished with lunch at the Bell Inn.
