Bangladeshi navy buys two AgustaWestland A109s

Hkp 15 (A 109E)Bangladesh has signed a contract for two AgustaWestland A109s to meet its navy requirement for new multi-mission helicopters.

To be delivered next year, the 3t-class aircraft will be suitable for roles including exclusive economic zone protection, maritime security, search and rescue and surface surveillance, the European manufacturer says.

The type will also be able to fly from the navy's frigate, the BNS Bangabandhu, it adds.
