Pakistan debates impact of drone attacks

MQ-9 ReaperHigh-profile kills with U.S. missile strikes on Taliban targets are encouraging but do little to turn the tide on the ground in Pakistan, analysts said.

A U.S. missile strike last week wounded Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban. His cousin and former leader Baitullah Mehsud was killed in a similar attack in August.

Pakistan has voiced its opposition to airstrikes inside its territory, telling Washington it would rather have the technology to launch independent attacks.
