High-profile kills with U.S. missile strikes on Taliban targets are encouraging but do little to turn the tide on the ground in Pakistan, analysts said.A U.S. missile strike last week wounded Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban. His cousin and former leader Baitullah Mehsud was killed in a similar attack in August.
Pakistan has voiced its opposition to airstrikes inside its territory, telling Washington it would rather have the technology to launch independent attacks.
