Fire onboard Northern Fleet destroyer

Udaloy-class destroyerOne person is reported dead after a fire onboard the destroyer “Vitse-admiral Kulakov” on Friday. The vessel is currently being repaired at a shipyard in St. Petersburg.

The Northern Fleet Udaloy-class destroyer “Vitse-admiral Kulakov” has been in overhaul at the Northern Shipyards for more than ten years, web site Baltinfo.ru reports.

Work on the vessel was about to be completed, and the first sea trials were planned for December. The accident on December 4 will not interfere on the time schedule, the web site reads.
