Study to assess if subs designed locally

Greg CombetAn independent study will determine whether a new fleet of military submarines can be designed locally.

The federal government wants to build as many as 12 new "Future Submarines" as part of a large military build-up.

The submarines will be assembled in South Australia but the government wants to know if they could also be designed and maintained locally.
