3 More FREMMs Ordered for French Navy


DCNS has signed a contract to deliver three additional FREMM multimission frigates for the French Navy, bringing orders to the full complement of 11 ships, the naval company said Oct. 8.

"Contract confirmation was announced today by the French Minister for Defense, Hervé Morin, at the production launch of France's second multimission frigate in the series, the Normandie," DCNS said in a statement.

Two of the new warships will be in the air defense version, with the third equipped for anti-submarine warfare, a DCNS spokesman said.
