Malmstrom commander discusses future of ICBM mission

A missile in a silo at Malstrom Air Force BaseColonel Michael Fortney has been at the top of the command chain at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls for almost a year, and during Sunday's "Face the State" interview on Montana's News Station, the 341st Missile Wing Commander addressed changes in the military proposed by the Obama administration.

"At the base level we're kind of isolated from much of that...our focus doesn't change. We've got 150 missiles on alert out there, and regardless of who's the President, we'll probably always have missiles on alert out there," explained Fortney.

"And the standards don't change, the environment doesn't change, the responsibility to whatever President is in office do not change."
