The view from 70,000 feet


The flight can last 11 hours and the on-board meal comes through a feeding tube. But the view is priceless.

The super-secret U-2 spy plane has been part of Air Force lore for more than a generation. This week, Hampton Roads residents can speak with a U-2 pilot and sample the toothpaste-tubed rations where the menu ranges from beef stew to chocolate pudding.

The display is one of more than 15 exhibits at the Virginia Air and Space Center, which has been taken over by the Air Force as part of Hampton Roads Air Force Week.
