French naval shipbuilder DCNS Group expects India's government to seek bids for six submarines within two years, its chairman and chief executive said Wednesday. DCNS responded to a so-called 'request for information' from India for the six submarines last year and is currently awaiting a response, Patrick Boissier told a news conference to announce the starting of DCNS' India unit.
"Having built the first batch, we intend to continue and complete the project for the Indian Navy but we will have to compete for it," Boissier said.
