Russia warships call at Turkey naval base for unofficial visit

A squadron of warships of the Northern Fleet of Russia consisting of the heavy aircraft carrier Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union N.G.Kuznetsov and the big antisubmarine ship Admiral Levchenko called at the Turkish naval base Akzas Karagac on Monday for an unofficial visit.

The visit will last until January 8. Then the squadron will continue fulfilling its tasks in the area of the Mediterranean Sea, assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Captain Igor Dygalo said.

On the first day of the visit, protocol meetings between the command of the squadron of the warships of the Northern Fleet and the command of the Turkish naval base will be held.
