Natynczyk: New ships will allow Forces to shape up

Gen. Walt NatynczykCanada needs to start building new warships, the country’s top soldier told a breakfast crowd in Halifax Monday.

Gen. Walt Natynczyk, chief of the defence staff, spoke to several hundred people at a Pier 21 fundraiser.

"We have not built a warship in Canada since 1996," General Natynczyk said.

"This is my No. 1 challenge in terms of acquisitions for the Canadian Forces."
