Russia has started deliveries of components of its S-300 air defense system to Iran, which could fend off a possible strike on its nuclear facilities by the U.S. or Israel, the official IRNA news agency reported today.“There were many years of talks with the Russians, which ultimately gave us good agreements, which are now being fulfilled,” said Esmail Kosari, deputy head of the Majlis [parliament] National Security and Foreign Relations Committee.
Kosari did not say when the deliveries began. According to Reuters, Iran’s Foreign Ministry declined to comment on the report.
