Britain delays delivery of two aircraft carriers

The consortium of British companies building the two new Royal Navy aircraft carriers has been instructed to work slower as the government reassesses its defence budget.

The UK Ministry of Defence announced that the Government was delaying the delivery date of the two carriers being built in Britain by up to two years in a bid to help it meet rising bills.

BVT Surface Fleet, the joint venture leading their construction has said that government delays are not expected to lead to redundancies and that its procurement programme will continue, albeit slower.
