Tory support for new sub fleet

THE Tories insist they will back the future of a BAE-built Trident sub fleet – and the two planned new supercarriers.

Both will be vital for the future of Barrow, say the Tories.

The promise came from Shadow Defence Secretary Dr Liam Fox at a fringe meeting at the Tory conference, organised by the company and right-wing think tank policy exchange.

Nuclear Astute was rolled out last year as the first of four subs ordered by the MoD. BAE will also work on part of two huge navy carriers.
