The impact of future Asian naval policy on the Gulf

Asia's rising powers of the 21st century, China and India, are in the midst of developing their military capabilities.

Substantial year-on-year increases in Indian, Chinese, and Pakistani military spending is transforming focus in these nations' future naval defense and security policy.

In a highly significant development in South Asian naval policy, breaking away from tradition - where defensive capabilities defined the focus of naval power - offensive capabilities, which offer more effective deterrence over wider ranges, is now where much of the work is occurring.
