The Pentagon is planning to sell the THAAD missile defense systems to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) worth up to 7 billion U.S. dollars, the Washington Post said on its website Monday. The Pentagon is expected to notify the Congress for approving the sale very soon, it said.
U.S. defense analysts said the UAE intends to use the new systems to protect itself from possible missile attacks from Iran and the systems could be integrated into the U.S. air defense network in the Middle East in the future.
