NATO Thursday presented its Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) aircraft at Prague's Ruzyně airport which NATO AWACS fleet commander Steve Schmidt described as NATO's real eyes and ears.Two of NATO's 17 AWACS aircraft were brought to Prague by NATO's NAPMO organisation that is responsible for all aspects of the management and implementation of the NATO AWACS Programme and reports directly to the North Atlantic Council.
The Czech Republic has discussed its membership in the group since 2001. At present NAPMO includes 15 NATO members states and is expected to admit Romania this year since 2001.
