NATO and Eurofighter agree on weapons

NATO and European company Eurofighter GmbH have reached an acceptance agreement on the Eurofighter Typhoon's new Tranche 2 weapon system.

The Block 8 Type Acceptance agreement between Eurofighter and the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency follows successful flight testing. Officials say with the agreement, deliveries of the Eurofighter aircraft can proceed.

"2008 is proving to be a decisive year for the program," Aloysius Rauen, Eurofighter chief executive officer, said in a statement.
