Swedes favour closer Nordic defense ties

"And if Norway buys the same fighter as Sweden, even more co-operation would be possible," says Swedish Defense Minister Sten Tolgfors.

Tolgfors this week published a military study for Sweden's future defense. Closer cooperation with the other Nordic countries is high on the list of his options.

"Some cooperative projects have already taken place. Sweden and Norway planned a unified force which was to be sent to Darfur.

Even though this mission was cancelled, it still showed how the two countries could work together in future," says Tolgfors.
