Raytheon successfully tests new Patriot missile interceptor

Raytheon Co. said Wednesday that it had successfully launched the Patriot Air Defense System's new missile interceptor.

The test completed at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico was the second live-fire exercise of the Missile Segment Enhancement version of the Patriot Configuration-3 missile and firing system.

The tests are conducted to test how the new interceptor missile integrates with the larger Patriot system, Waltham-based Raytheon said.
