NAS Whidbey takes first Growler anti-radar plane

The Whidbey Island Naval Air Station is accepting delivery of its first EA-18G Growler.

This is the Boeing-built version of the Super Hornet fighter jet converted into an electronic warfare plane. It's replacing the EA-6B Prowler that leads air assaults by jamming and destroying enemy radar.

Navy Secretary Donald Winter is attending the 1 p.m. Tuesday ceremony.
