Australian guided missile frigates resurrected after electronic problems

Six months after the Government threatened to cancel a major warship project, the $1.4 billion upgrade is back on track.

One of the reconditioned frigates will be sent to the Persian Gulf next year.

The guided missile frigate upgrade was more than four years late and facing the axe when the Herald Sun revealed in January that the ships were unfit for war, because of the failure to integrate vital combat and self-defence systems.
