Axe ready to fall on troubled Seasprites

The future of the Super Seasprite is once again in the crosshairs as the new Federal Government examines a range of defence contracts. The 11 Super Seasprite helicopters were ordered in 1997.

Six years ago the helicopters, based at HMAS Albatross, were supposed to be gracing our skies and the decks of Australia’s Anzac frigates.

However the Defence Department has estimated the helicopters will not be fully operational for another two years.
