Russia needs anti-missile missiles capable of hitting near-space targets

Russia needs anti-missile missiles that can be used in near space, Special Forces Commander Col. Gen. Yuri Solovyov told a Monday press conference in Moscow.

"We already have new missiles for the S-400 anti-aircraft system. These are surface-to-air missiles. We also need high-altitude missiles that can destroy targets in near space," he said.

The high-altitude anti-missile missiles and other types of S-400 projectiles "will fully use the potential of the system that has not and will not have equivalents in the near future," the general said.
