France says contracts signed with Libya worth over 10 bln eur

French president Nicolas Sarkozy said contracts signed with Libya yesterday at the start of a visit by Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi are worth over 10 bln eur.

France secured a firm order for 21 Airbus jets from EADS, worth around 3.2 bln usd at catalogue prices, although the actual value of the sale was not disclosed.

France and Libya also signed preliminary agreements in a number of areas, including civilian nuclear power. The cooperation accord calls for France to supply one or several nuclear reactors as part of a water desalination project.
