A Navy plane with Wichita connections

Although construction of the P-8 Poseidon won't begin until early next year, animation gives you an idea of what the poseidon will look like in action, once the Navy begins using the aircraft in 2013.

"Anti-submarine warfare, it's primary function will be to search out and potentially destroy enemy submarines," Pat Nash, of the Boeing Corporation, said.

Putting the plane together is a joint effort between Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, which is manufacturing the fuselage and tail, and Boeing, which will handle final assembly at its Washington plant.
